Birthed into Synthpop of the 80’s, raised to the Big Beat Electronica of the early 90’s, and completed during the raves of the late 90‘s. Jeff Olivarri (aka PryZm, uberOMG!, The Counter Frame) has been an audiophile of all things Electronic Music from a very early age. Spinning his first gig as PryZm in the summer of 2000 and quickly gaining a spot as resident at San Antonio’s infamous Spy Room, Jeff saw a rocket-like accent to Texas rave usual. During the years 2000-2002 Jeff played over 350 dates across 3 states and firmly cemented himself in Texas EDM history. Performing with the likes of Christopher Lawrence, Frankie Bones, DJ Micro, Keoki, The Crystal Method, Adam Freeland, John Kelley, Uberzone, John Bishop, John the Dentist, Donald Glaude, Rabbit in the Moon, Art of Trance, Ferry Corsten, George Acosta, Cirrus, Vicious Vic, Kimball Collins, and many, many more.
In late 2003 he stepped away from playing out and began releasing regular mixtapes of varying styles. Everything from progressive house to drum and bass. It’s during these years his philosophy on mix construction and creating emotional response through the mixing of energy levels and keys was born. Every mix he makes is made to take the listener someplace and make them feel something. Jeff is a very emotional performer who dances to his own beat and plays what moves him. He considers himself an attendee of the evening and he comes to dance with you and not just make the records go round and round.
After a victorious bout with cancer in 2007 and a few mixtape releases later… We are now seeing a new chapter in Jeff Olivarri’s EDM career not as a DJ, but now as a Controllerist. He doesn’t sleep like most Laptop performers, he comes to do work. Constantly looping, juggling, and effecting. Using specialized midi controllers, Jeff now can bend and shape the music in ways turntables never could. This allows him to churn out explosive trance and breakbeat sets filled with tricks and live edits that will set the crowd on fire. Now wishing to come back into the spotlight and perform live once again for 2011, Jeff Olivarri hooked up with The Underground Nation to take things to the next level. And here we are today…
